Our Story: More Than a Fitness Studio 

Built by a woman. Created for women. Rooted in El Monte.

 

Beastin Beauties Fit Studio is a women-only fitness studio in El Monte, California, built on a simple belief: every woman deserves a place where she feels welcome, supported, and empowered.

But our story started long before we had a studio.

It Started With 93 Pounds

Hi, I’m Jay, the founder of Beastin Beauties.

Before I became a fitness studio owner, I was a woman on my own fitness journey.

I lost 93 pounds naturally, and that experience changed so much more than my body. It showed me what I was capable of and helped me discover a confidence and strength I wanted other women to experience too.

I knew how intimidating it could feel to start. And I knew how powerful it was to find something that made you actually enjoy moving your body.

But I also noticed something missing in our community.

We didn’t have enough spaces that were just for women.

Not just women-only fitness studios, but places where women could connect, make friends, support one another, and have something that was truly theirs.

I wanted to change that.

So I started teaching workouts wherever I could: parks, community centers, and even my own backyard.

I didn’t have a fancy studio. I just had a passion for fitness and a desire to bring women together.

And little by little, a community started forming.

2015: Beastin Beauties Was Born

In March 2015, I officially opened Beastin Beauties Fit Studio.

My vision was never to create just another gym.

I wanted a place where women could show up exactly as they were. Where beginners felt just as welcome as experienced fitness lovers. Where nobody had to worry about keeping up, looking a certain way, or fitting in.

A place where you could come for a workout and leave with new friends.

Over the years, Beastin Beauties became so much more than I originally imagined.

We built routines, celebrated milestones, created friendships, and became part of one another’s lives.

In January 2019, we moved into a new studio, excited for the next chapter.

But we had no idea what was coming.

2020: The Year Everything Changed

In March 2020, the pandemic forced us to close our doors.

Like so many small businesses, we were trying to figure out what came next.

Then, on May 14, 2020, I received a phone call from one of my clients.

There was a fire at the plaza where our studio was located.

At first, I didn’t think it was going to be a big deal. The fire seemed far enough away from us that I thought we’d be okay.

But it started spreading fast.

I remember being so overwhelmed that I was hyperventilating. I couldn’t breathe.

Everything I had worked so hard to build was suddenly at risk.

And then our studio was gone.

Years of hard work, memories, and the physical space where we’d built our community were lost.

I didn’t know what was going to happen next.

The Part of Rebuilding Nobody Talks About

I’m not going to pretend I stayed positive through all of it.

There were plenty of times I considered not reopening.

The insurance money wasn’t nearly enough to cover what we’d lost. I didn’t have a studio anymore, and starting over felt overwhelming.

We continued finding ways to stay connected, including online workouts, but I missed having a physical space where women could come together.

Months went by.

And there were moments when I wondered whether Beastin Beauties would ever have a home again.

But I kept thinking about why I started.

I didn’t create Beastin Beauties just to have a building.

I created it because I believed women deserved a space of their own.

And I wasn’t ready to give up on that.

November 2021: Our Comeback

After a year and a half without a physical studio, Beastin Beauties finally reopened in November 2021.

I was SO excited.

After everything we’d been through, having a place to call home again meant everything.

But reopening wasn’t the happy ending people might imagine.

Because while I was working toward getting our studio back, life had moved on.

Women had developed new routines. Some had found other places to work out. Others had stopped working out altogether.

And when we finally reopened, we weren’t getting nearly as many clients as before.

For a while, I struggled.

I had fought so hard to reopen, only to realize that I had to rebuild our clientele and our community all over again.

But I kept showing up.

One class at a time. One woman at a time.

And slowly, Beastin Beauties began growing again.

11 Years Later, We’re Still Here

Today, Beastin Beauties continues to welcome women from El Monte, South El Monte, Rosemead, Montebello, San Gabriel, and surrounding San Gabriel Valley communities.

We’ve been through challenges I never imagined when I first started teaching workouts.

But we’ve also experienced moments that remind me why I never gave up.

But what makes me proudest isn’t an award.

It’s watching a woman walk into our studio feeling nervous and eventually find her confidence.

It’s seeing friendships form between women who might never have met otherwise.

It’s watching our members cheer each other on, celebrate their progress, and keep showing up for themselves.

That’s why I started Beastin Beauties.

And that’s why I’m still here.

Your Place Is Here, Too 

Today, we offer women’s group fitness classes in El Monte, including JamFit Dance Fitness, circuit training, Booty Sculpt, Mat Pilates, yoga, and other fitness and wellness experiences.

You don’t need to be in shape before you join us.

You don’t need to know the choreography or have any experience.

You don’t even need to know anybody.

Just come as you are.

Because at Beastin Beauties, we believe fitness should be fun, friendships should be genuine, and every woman deserves a place where she belongs.
